Routine chiropody

The full foot MOT includes assessment and examination, restorative foot soak, gentle removal of any corns, callus' using safe sterile methods, trimming and filing of nails, using an electric file on nails or skin to smooth where applicable. Conservative treatment of any fungal, verrucae, dry or moist skin disorders. We will apply the most appropriate foot emollient. Extensive personalised guidance will be given and treatment plans discussed in detail.

Full examination & assessment

A comprehensive medical history, and examination is aimed to expertly address and advise on any foot concerns you may have.

Please ensure all polish and gel are removed before attending to enable full examination of your nails.

Foot soak

For all visits all clients will receive a soothing, restorative and softening foot soak. before any consultation and treatment.

Removal of corns and callus (hard skin)

By using painless, sharp debridement, the overlying hardskin will be removed and all treated areas smoothed gently with our electric equipment. A personalised guidance and recommendations plan for ongoing maintenance will be advised.

Verruca assessment and treatment

Verrucae are warts that are infectious and can spread throughout the foot to other persons and to other areas of the body. At the Foot Place we can provide safely stronger acid compound treatments and freezing therapy. Extensive tailor made guidance will be given on how to reduce cross contamination and spread and quicken healing. Frequently a course of follow up treatment will be required to provide the best outcome.

Treatment and advice on fungal nail and skin disorders

If a fungal nail is causing discomfort and becoming unsightly we can resolve this common foot problem with a simple nail reduction and smoothing with electric file equipment.

Thorough guidance and advice will be given. For persistently stubborn nails the fenestration process of drilling into the nail may be proposed to aid topical application.

Nail cut and file

Can't cut? Won't cut? Painful, thickened or mishapen nails. Nails will be gently reduced and filed to make comfortable. All likely origins of nail pathology will be discussed, and the specific treatment will be applied.

Treatment of cracked heels and painful heels

Cracked Heels can be unsightly and painful. Painless, professional debridement of the heel followed by deep penetrating foot emollient treatment will be applied which improves the cosmetic appearance and restores moisture levels to the heel. For the most severe cracks additional gel dressing and surgical tape may be applied to accelerate healing and assist walking and a return to regular activities.

Diabetic footcare

Current Health guidelines suggest that persons with a diabetic diagnosis regardless of age or severity should ensure that their feet are regularly reviewed by a professional and monitored for weakening of skin or desensitisation. At the Foot Place we can use ultrasound to check blood flow and investigate nerve sensitivity, using specialist tools to test nerve performance in the foot.

Personalised footcare and footwear advice will be given and treatment of any persisting foot problems provided. Regular diabetic foot monitoring has been proven to significantly reduce the risk and occurence of serious diabetic foot complications.

Application of emollient treatment

Your skin condition and any pathologies such as athletes foot or psoriasis will be treated and any scaling smoothed. A calming and deep penetrating emollient treatment will be applied to skin to kick start repair and rehydration of the foot.
